For appointment to this grade, an officer must have; (i) Cumulative service period of six (6) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which must have been at the grade of a Registered Nurse II or in a comparable position. (ii) Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Nursing (KRN) or Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution; Kenya registered midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing / Mental Health and Psychiatric or any other qualifications from a recognised institution. (iii) Been registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya; (iv) Valid Practicing licence from the Nursing Council in good standing; (v) Proficiency in computer applications; and (vi) Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Assessing, planning and implementing nursing interventions; Evaluating patient’s outcomes; Providing healthcare education and counselling to patients/clients on identified health needs; Referring patients and clients appropriately; Participating in patients’ referrals procedures; Facilitating patients’ admission and initiating discharge plans; Documenting and maintaining relevant records; Facilitating and implementing recommendations on patients care plans; Participating in multidisciplinary health teams on patients care management Preparing periodic reports; Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment; Collecting and compiling data related to nursing services; (xiii) Identifying and assessing risks in work place; and Mentoring and assessing nursing students.
